JrFLL Expo

JrFLL Robotics Like Never Before!

It is the fabulous Cornerstone School and Forest High School EMIT ProgramRobopalooza” Robotics Tournament.  We are proud to present a robotics event that promises to be one of the largest in the state of Florida. Our goal is to provide a venue for a wide range of robotics activities that will be of interest to any age group.  This extravaganza will feature three separate events: The Cornerstone School “Weasels at Work” First Lego League Tournament featuring 24 Robotics teams (Grades 4 – 8); A Demonstration by the Forest High School EMIT FIRST FRC Robotics Program (High School); and for the first time ever…

An Exposition for Jr. First Lego League (Grades 1-3)

What’s Happening?

Jr.  FIRST Lego League teams will present their 2011 Snack Attack™ Challenge projects. This will allow each team an opportunity to showcase their work and meet other kids who share their interest in science and technology.  The intention of our event is to recognize the contributions of each participant and each team, and provide a venue for positive sharing, learning, laughing, and celebrating a task well done!

Wait – there’s more!!!

As part of your Jr. FLL EXPO experience all registered teams will be invited to take part in a special Lego STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activity.  This activity will be led by the Lego Educators from ALL ABOUT LEARNING.  Their program will involve students in a one hour activity using  LEGO WeDo robots ®.  REMEMBER….this is included as part of your registration fee.

Brief description of activity:

Students will be introduced to robotics through the Lego WeDo  kits.  They will be paired in teams to build a model using legos, motors, and sensors.  Students will then use the LEGO Education WeDo Robotics Software to program their robot to complete a task. This program is intended for students in kindergarten through upper elementary grades.  The main objectives are:

-learning math and science
-comparing and contrasting objects
-extending patterns and language arts
-listening and following directions
-learning mechanical vocabulary
-have FUN!
